Clear braces: This alternative to metal braces utilizes plastic or tooth-colored brackets for less conspicuous orthodontic treatment. The general principle is the same: gentle force to incrementally align teeth. Because clear braces break easily, removing them can be a more difficult and time-consuming process than with metal braces.
Invisalign: This technology utilizes a custom-designed series of clear trays to reposition teeth. Teens and adults often prefer Invisalign over traditional braces, because the trays are removable and virtually undetectable. Patients eligible for orthodontic treatment with Invisalign often achieve the desired result in 12 to 18 months.
